Letter to the Ashbourne News Telegraph:
'My husband and I were lucky enough to get tickets for a guided tour with Christmas Tea at Casterne Hall last Friday afternoon. What a treat!
'As soon as the host, Charles Hurt, opened the door to welcome us you were greeted by the most fantastic smell of Christmas and the beautiful sight of the dining table all laid ready for the big day.
'We were given a short talk about the hall and then invited to wander around all the rooms where the doors were open (even bedrooms). What a superb warm welcoming family home it is.
'After our tour, Caroline, Charles' wife, invited us into the fantastic kitchen for a beautiful afternoon Christmas tea.
'We took ours into the comfy sitting room, enjoying it by a roaring fire, watching the huge snowflakes floating by the windows.
'A couple of weeks ago we went around Chatsworth decorated for Christmas, but I have to say that I enjoyed this more.
'Thank you to the Hurts for opening up Casterne and giving us such a lovely welcome into their beautiful home.'
