Bed and Breakfast at Casterne
Enjoy the experience of staying in this celebrated Grade II* manor house, home to the Hurt family for 500 years. Set in its own grounds, and with stunning views of the Manifold Valley, Casterne is at the centre of some of the most beautiful walking country in the whole of Britain, with several footpaths leading literally from the doorstep. (Charles Hurt, author of ‘On Foot in the Peak District’, is usually on hand to advise.) Ilam village and the famous beauty spot of Dovedale are only a mile and a half away.
There are four bedrooms - two super-kings and two twins - in an exclusive suite on the top floor which also includes a large and very comfortable Living Room with two sofa beds, a wood burner (logs supplied), kitchenette, Sky TV, and a large dining table. Here you can make your meals. There are also three more rooms available (2 doubles and a single) on the first floor if required. All rooms are furnished to the highest standards of taste, comfort and elegance.
For an additional cost, and by prior arrangement, hearty, full-English breakfasts with, whenever possible, our own free range eggs and home-made marmalade and jams can be served each morning to those who do not wish to make their own, and, in the evening, a superb three-course dinner, may be ordered. Ingredients are locally-sourced with a strong emphasis on organic and seasonal produce, often from our own kitchen garden.
Another option is to order from our wide range of delicious, home-made, oven-ready meals.
Alternatively the multi-award winning ‘George’ pub and restaurant at Alstonefield is only a 10 minute drive away, and the pubs and restaurants of the delightful market town of Ashbourne only quarter of an hour.
